First, we have to apologize for our silence on our blog recently! Hopefully we will be more diligent in April!
But now, so much to update!
This past Tuesday evening, we walked across the street to the Stevens Center to hear a performance of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. We had great seats in the balcony with a perfect view of the entire orchestra. As Beethoven is one of Fitz's favorite composers, he enjoyed the performance immensely. Katherine always loves going to hear classical music, and it reminded her of going to Mostly Mozart concerts at her church back in Charlotte growing up. We encourage anyone who ever has the opportunity to hear a live performance to go; you won't regret it!
Yesterday, we went to the membership meeting of the Preserve Historic Forsyth County Society. Why? Because Katherine entered their essay contest and was asked to attend and read her essay along with the other finalists. Katherine did a great job reading her essay, which only had to be 100 words. We heard a wonderful history about the church where the meeting was held, at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church, and learned that Martin Luther King, Jr. came and spoke there back in the 60s. Finally, they announced the winners, and Katherine won second place! Everyone was very nice and gracious, and we hope to attend their meetings and events again before our move to Charlotte.
This morning, we're enjoying a lazy morning on the couch, listening to the oral arguments from the Supreme Court from this past week. Katherine is doing a good job figuring out which justice is speaking, and Fitz is doing a wonderful job explaining what they're saying!
Tonight at church, we're having a potluck dinner, and the theme is International Cuisine! Katherine is going to make a couscous salad. We'll see how it turns out!
Second place indeed. What is wrong with those judges? I say we storm the place and .... nah, second place is pretty darn good. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ted! I was just happy I won something! And my odds were pretty good, there only being five finalists.
