Katherine discovered something rather amazing yesterday, and while we're sad we're blogging about it a day late, we wanted to let everyone know that there is such a thing as International Be Kind To Lawyers Day, celebrated on April 10. If you'd like to learn more about this festive holiday, here's the website link. It's a rather fun website with cool lawyer facts and quotes. Fitz would like to stress, however, that just because such a day exists, it does not mean that you can be mean to lawyers the other 364 days of the year. Also, Katherine has not recited a lawyer joke in over a year our of respect for her husband's career (although many a lawyer joke are rather funny...).
Brendan, Katherine, and Allen...adorable... |
This evening, we went over to our church to help cook and serve dinner for the Shalom Table, which feeds weekly meals to folks around Winston-Salem. We made nine pounds of pasta, 280 meatballs, a lot of steamed veggies, salad, bread, and a ton of grapes. And of course, we had some delicious brownies and cookies for dessert. We had a fun time with our Bible study group, whom we served with, and with everyone that we met. Overall, it was a success! We were just happy we made enough food! Cooking for just us two can prove tricky enough sometimes...
Book update! Fitz is reading John Grisham's The Broker, and Katherine is re-reading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
"adorable" yes!
ReplyDeleteCurrent reading; Is your library in the ventilator shaft?
Haha, no, not in the ventilator shaft, thankfully. However, late at night, I think I hear a mechanical hound scratching at the door...
DeleteFahrenheit 451 what a great book. Who else but Ray Bradbury would make "firemen" the bad guys.
ReplyDeleteBTW - you do know that Jackson Browne has a great song "Lawyers in Love" which is NOT a touchy, feeley about lovebird lawyers. You'll figure it out.
Oooh, another good song! Definitely not the touchy, feely, lovey-dovey song the title might suggest...but a wonderful irony all the same.
DeleteFinished Fahrenheit 451 yesterday...I had forgotten how very poetic Mr. Bradbury is with his prose...I might check out another read of his to compare.
